Muslim Aid’s partners on the ground in Haiti have been working around the clock to deliver aid. Thanks to your generous donations we have already been able to make a difference to the people suffering in Haiti.
* Our Rapid Response team with Global Medic have been operational since last week. They have based operations at the Adventist University of Haiti, South West of Port-au-Prince.
* There are over 20,000 people seeking refuge within the grounds of the university, where the team have set up a water purification unit and have been distributing aquatabs.
* 30,000 people have had access to clean water now a fully functional water unit has been set up.
* Our team’s doctor is working at the Adventist hospital where there are currently over 500 patients with only 71-beds. The medical team have so far completed 10 amputations and water has been restored to the hospital.
* Our medics reported a story of a 9 year old girl who had to have her arm amputated without any anaesthetic; she was singing hymns to get through the pain.
* Support is still slow but it is coming through, the agencies are working around the clock.
The people in Haiti are still desperately in need of your donations.
